Still working

Filled in some details for the figure today. I vowed that I would start using a brush for inking but a broke down and busted out the microns for the small details. Maybe I need to break down and buy a good brush for inking. I should do some research. I'm trying to keep the lines thick to avoid any printing issues. Here's the wip

Creative day

Actually woke up before noon and had a beautiful day. A little gratitude goes a long way and I am working on centering myself and staying positive.  Focusing on what I want and visualizing it. I'm beginning to discover just how powerful visualization can be. There is so much beauty and mystery in this world and I want to discover it.
I took my dog roxy out today and we wondered around the woods behind my house. Found some really cool stuff for shadow boxes. Nature inspires me.
After that I came home and started inking my piece. Got the part filled in and now I need to go in and get the fine lines. I like how it is coming along.

Back from vacation

I've been out of town for awhile so I haven't got the chance to sit down and draw. I woke up this morning aching to work on this piece. Today I cleaned everything up and made the drawing I'm going to ink. Basically I had the messy drawing that had the sketchy parts in it and I put it on the light table to make a clean version. If everything goes right I will start inking it tomorrow. No more messing around. I need to take advantage of my break

Back in the workspace

Everything is finally finished for school *Round of applause. Its weird bc without anything due I really don't know what to do w myself.
I have been working on my new print. Feels good bc I haven't given my art desk some love in awhile. I like sitting down and drawing. Haven't done that in so long. I have layed out the pencil work. Going to clean it up and ink it soon.

Do or die time. The final stretch

It has been an intense day. I have been non stop. Woke up and worked on the sculpture. Got the wire frame done and strated to wrap it up in fabric. My goal it to cover it in Gel medium and fabric stiffener until it is super hard. After that I will give it a coat of Gold paint. After class I grabbed some amazing yellow curry from a Thai truck :)

Set up the layout for my book cover. Everything looked good on the computer, however when I printed it out it looked pixilelated. I decided to say fuck it and talk to my teacher about wheat I did wrong. Most likely the resolution got messed up along the way. I wanted to get this done so I wont have to worry about it, however it isn't due for another week, thank god. We are going to learn how to cut down and bind a book. Looking forward to learning how to make a legit book that looks like something you can get off the shelves. Maybe I can make my own one day.

On a side note, I went to Jerrys today to pick up some book binding glue. Also got two large screens, a big container of photo emulsion, screen cleaner, and some screen hinges. I have absolutely no time to print now. However I have everything bought for when finals are over. So happy.
Got home and mounted my Film poster. My living room is a mess with scraps and tracing paper. However it is finished. Going to do my final critique tomorrow. I'm thinking I have looked at it too much to the point where I am focusing on little stuff. However, my whole class is frazzled and getting caught up in small details. I will like it more in the morning when I look at it with fresh eyes. One class down. Two more to go.

Still working away. However a lot of my projects are finally starting to come together. Love that feeling. I have been taking advantage of this time off to really polish my work and do something I can add to my portfolio.

Here is a banner I put together for a friends jewelry company. Basically did the outline in Illustrator and coloring in photoshop.

Finished up the graphic and background for the type project. This is the Rough. Probably will play around with the type a bit more before I do the final. Basically done besides making the actual book though.

This is the rough for the film poster. Same as the book cover, I still have to mess around with the type a bit. It basically done except a few minor details.

Working on final projects

Up working on my final projects for Concept Strategies and Type. Liking how the poster is going. However it still needs the film and some textures. Finished up the graphics and started setting the type today.

Began on the line work for the book cover today. Im going to build up the lines in illustrator but color everything in photoshop. The finished product is going to be an actual book. Looking forward to having a legit book to put in my portfolio.

Planning on working all during my break and producing some work I can be proud of. Its not that hard when we have some cool projects.

Studio Tour, Final Projects, Cabinet Project

I love living in Austin. Went to the East Austin Studio tour last weekend with my bud Kalyn who is a jewelry maker. We got this whole new level of inspiration. We truly have some amazing talent here and I am going to make myself more involved with the Austin Art scene and try to find a shop I can learn from. Also, I have been thinking a lot about printing and getting my own space for making prints, designs, and fine art. Seeing other artists do it has made it seem very obtainable. Here are some pics of us and some cool pieces I saw. Going to visit next weekend too.

School is coming to an end and I have been working on my final projects. In concept strategies we have been working on an experimental movie night poster. I have this idea of a flock of flying cameras. I'm building it up in Illustrator but also working in photo shop. Here are some wip shots.
This is the main graphic. I made it in Illustrator.

This is the graphic with the grid. It is no where close to being finished.

Im also working on a book cover design for Thanasphere by  In 3D im doing another wire sculpture of a replica piece for Louise Bourgeoisie. Been very busy, I just need to keep my stamina up and finish out this year with a bang.

Yesterday, I finished up the cabinet (fninally). Im very happy with how it tuned out.

First screen prints

Super excited about what I have been doing in my spare time. I've been thinking a lot about screen printing since company called drive by press came by my school. I got this 40 percent off coupon and decided to get a screen printing kit. I used the photo emulsion method. Initially I messed up and didn't burn the screen long enough so the fine lines didn't show up. I redid it though and the second screen came out better. It's funny because redoing things always happens but it is apart of the process. Defiantly learned a lot.

Chocolate box

Wrapped up a couple of projects this week. First I completed my chocolate box design for concept stratigies class. My goal was to create a kind of sexy, vintage, cool box design. I also wanted to incorporate my illustration skills. Attached some work in progress and the finished product along w my classes work.

Finished product

Finished up my wire project. Very happy with how it turned out. I've been thinking a lot about souls and who we are in a cosmic scale. That part of myself that makes me myself outside of my physical appearance. This is why I depicted myself as an entity floating along in a kind of universe. Ultimately this is my journey.

Wire project

Working tonight on the wire project. We are supposed to make a self portrait out of wire. I didn't want anything to literal so I decided to portray myself as a soul floating in the cosmos. I always wanted to make a mobile so I'm giving it a shot. Here is the thumb And a work in progress.

Logo project and the show

Just finished this logo project for my my concept strategies class. It was for a company called Cat Eye. They sell bike products and lights. This project and I have been through a journey. At first I was wanting something abstract, after getting some feed back many people said it was looking really tribal. I decided to change it do something a bit more literal with the element of the abstract logo I like. It turned out very professional.

Here is a pic of my desk after working on the roughs.

Here is the finished product.

For 3D we were doing this project in foam core (which I learned to despise from having to flush mount last year) and I wanted to make one of my weird alien creatures. My teacher kept hinting around that I should go with the serpent idea instead of a antelope looking monster. I decided to go with the antelope and it ended up being a disaster. I was happy with the head and torso but I could not make the legs sturdy. The thing totally fell apart on critique day. Super bummed me out. However, it was a learning experience and now when I make a sculpture I am going to make sure that not only the idea is sound but the structure is sound as well. Anyway, here is a pic of the after math of this project.

I hate you foam core

On a more positive note, I am going to be in an Art show. I am very excited and don't really know what to expect. All my friends will be there so it will be fun. Made this flyer today. Space alien robot skull.
